The French Open concludes in the most predictable manner possible. The attention of the tennis world turns to grass. Wimbledon is just two weeks away. Click "Read More" to get your Weekly Wild Card.
The French Open is finally over, and the favorites prevailed exactly in the manner you think they would. Nadal outlasted Djokovic in an epic encounter, and Serena Williams crushed all of her opponents before overcoming a tough Maria Sharapova. The rest of the tournament was a huge bore, with a few exceptions. The whole thing felt like a foregone conclusion, and the only two matches worth watching were very exciting. Nadal-Djokovic was a top-3 match of the year, and Serena-Sharapova is the highest possible quality match on the women's side. Those two matches were great. The rest? A giant meh.
- Now we go to the grass, a much more aesthetically pleasing surface to watch tennis on. The men are in Halle and Queen's Club this week, while the women are in Birmingham. It's a great three weeks of tennis, and I much prefer it to the Continental red clay.
- Having said all that awful stuff about the French Open, we'll have a big recap up today of the tournament.
- Finally, Tennis Channel has most of the action from the tournaments this week. Enjoy the green grass while you can.
