The Australian Open is one week away! Serena and Andy pick up where they left off, Tipsy and Gasquet pick up wins, and the men and women make their final preparations. Click Read More to get your Weekly Wild Card.

- January 14th is the beginning of the Australian Open, and for US viewers that means next Sunday night will be the beginning of the coverage. It's advisable to get your sleep in now, with the matches starting at 7 pm East Coast time, going until 6 in the morning. There's always a unique buzz going into the Australian Open. It's the first major of the year, and the first meaningful tennis since last September, and justifiably there's a lot of anticipation.

- But before we get there, preparations must be made, and the first week of the season completed with a few familiar names on top of their respective tournaments. On the men's side, top seed Andy Murray winning in Brisbane, second seeded Richard Gasquet winning in Doha, and second seeded Janko Tipsarevic winning in Chennai. On the women's side, Serena Williams won in Brisbane, Aga Radwanska won in Auckland, and Li Na won in China. All familiar names, and all won with relative ease.

- Going into next week, the tournament fields are predictably weaker, but there are some solid events with players looking to make their final preparations for Melbourne.

- The men are in Sydney and Auckland. John Isner and Gilles Simon lead the field in Sydney, while David Ferrer, Philipp Kohlschreiber, Tommy Haas, and Sam Querrey are in Auckland.

-Once again, like it was in Brisbane, the women have the stronger field in Sydney. Radwanska, Kerber, Errani, Li, Kvitova, and Wozniacki all are in the field. Hobart is wide open, and two players to watch are Sloane Stephens and Mona Barthel. Both can make a run in what is a rather weak field.

- We'll be debuting a new series tomorrow called "Aces and Double Faults". We're looking forward to it.

-As for tv, ESPN3 is showing Australian Open qualifying starting on Tuesday, so that'll be a nice early taste of Melbourne. Usually I say enjoy the tennis, but you really should be getting sleep in preparation for the fortnight of all-nighters, as I call it. Take care everyone!
